Gambel quail question

When I raise chicks, the heat lamp is always on, day and night. My chicks are usually in a roomy container. When the chicks are cold, they move close to the heat lamp. When they are hot, the move away to cool down.

Right, I understand. With Cots I usually turn the heat off at 3 weeks and they are outside. At some point the chicks don’t need it. This is my first time with Gambel’s so I’m wondering how long they need the heat source.
