Well I wouldn't pay $6 for a chicken ever. I guess it is just where we live. I got all my barred rocks for free from a neighbor and a few brown hens as well. Then I got some white hens free from a neighbor as well. Free is better

I would pay $6 a hen if they are young and just started. With free you dont know how old they are or if you do there egg production is low.

and then they will research chickens and find a cute lil site about backyard chickens and they will join and they will see your picture and say...hey, that's the guy_____.

Well, the lady w/ the $6 hens sold them out from under me! I was suppose to call her when I got off work, which I did, and she was like "oh, sorry, someone came by and took them all."
