Had a rough year this year, only now getting back to the birds, put a few in the fair, but managed to win champion Quail with this lovely blue tux old female. pics don't do her justice Reserve was a cute golden manchurian... big class this year, 60 entries.

Good post! What would be the decisive criteria for choosing the best quail around in such a fair?

a lot of it goes into condition, she had immaculate feathers till her neighbor met her (fortunately that was after the judging), and body condition, she would make a good table bird. Then there's patterning color etc.
