Has anyone heard of....

A Sterile chicken? or a Hen that does not lay eggs? I know that is probably a dumb question but there it is..

It is not dumb, because I apparently have one. She is over a eight months old and has done nothing. She never developed a comb or wattles,no squat, but very sweet.

Thanks..I was feeling sort of sheepish about asking but..

I just brought home three new chickens and One, I swore was a EE hen..I still think she is.

but the lady who gave her to me, said that the person that she got the chicken from... said it was a mix between a Guinea and some other chicken... and said that the "cross" was one that wouldn't lay eggs???

Now, I know I am new to chickens but REALLY?

That doesn't look like it has any guinea. It does look a lot like an EE.

Looks like an EE to me! Now, I have heard they can be slow to mature.

There is a long thread about a guinea/EE cross (https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=263053) that has photos from hatching to adulthood. That bird looked nothing like what you have. I don't think you have a cross.

She's an EE pullet. Hopefully in the future she will provide some blue or green eggs.

I THOUGHT she was an EE Hen and not a cross. and the whole thing about not laying eggs...well I didn't know what to believe on that..because I have never heard of a bread NOT laying..not to say there isn't, but that I've never heard of such a thing. and like I said this IS my first experience with owning Chickens soo....

I am SOOO excited though! I can't WAIT till she does lay her first blue or green egg! YAY!!
