if I may interject some thought here. we gather 200,000 fresh water turtle eggs a year for incubation. (we sell hatchlings to oversees markets.) anyway, point is you would not believe the animals that prefer fresh turtle eggs for breakfast, supper, brunch, midday snacks, you get the point. ants are on that list. they eat eggs, try to eat us alive etc... problem solved when I found AMDRO ants actually seek the grandules out and bring them back to share with the rest of colony. we call it "feeding" the ants. we place in small containers with hole in lid for ant access and where other animals can't get to it. I have sprinkled it out in yard after and before rains, wet environment does not hinder effects. yellow color is appealing to chickens and there are warnings on bag of dangers to water and animals, but have not ever lost fish or animals due to posionings. can be found at wal-mart. I buy mine at local farm supply, pricey item but works. also, only thing I use around roses for ants. I use dawn and water for mites and aphids.
