Hi all, just received a panicked call regarding this poor red chick with a leg issue. Could be broken or a tendon problem, but this poor little guy is part of a school hatching project and needs a home ASAP. My flock is full, but I'm willing to get him/her and drive a but to ensure a good home. The chick is located in Oak Brook, Illinois.

Poor little chicky.
It's hard to know what's wrong with it, some with leg issues don't make it. If it's a school hatching project, then surely someone from the class or school should be willing take it home and care for it right?
You can try your state thread to see if anyone is nearby as well.

In the meantime, if you want to try and save the chick, it needs to be tended to. Here's some information on leg issues so you can help it while you are trying to find it a place. I would also raise that water station up a bit, so it doesn't get clogged up so bad. Chicks with leg issues can benefit from B2(Riboflavin) so it would be good of you if you can start giving that chick some vitamins and try to fix it's leg(s) too.

I just want to thank you for your kind help with this poor chick! Unfortunately, the little thing didn't make it, passing peacefully next to his little friend.

Your information will come in handy in the future, and I humbly thank you for caring!
