Any reason for oyster Shells? Ive never heard of them for chickens

The hens need extra calcium to form egg shells. Don't use Layer feed if you have a rooster. It has extra calcium, but is bad for him. Provide crushed oyster shell (available at your feed store) and the hen will eat when she needs it. The rooster won't usually mess with it.

It's for calcium for egg shells, grower is low calcium, which is good for the rooster but the girls need it. They'll only eat what they need.
