There is a VA group here. When I wanted older pullets, I asked on my local board: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/26/where-am-i-where-are-you
and had no trouble whatsoever finding exactly what I wanted. The quality of the birds she was culling as not up to scratch for her breeding purposes were still head and shoulders above anything the farm stores had. And wow, was she reasonable! I'd absolutely go that route again.
