S/he has no pointed feathers except on part of the tail. The waddle and comb are more pink than red and the part that is closest to the neck still has a little yellow to it. This is my first Barred Rock

Thanks for your comments. At least it seems like my neighbors are okay with one so I'll keep him unless he becomes aggressive. How can you tell he's a little roo?

In this case, being he's a Barred Rock, it's all about the color. In any purebred Barred bird, a pullet will be a darker color, closer to the Cuckoo pattern, while the cockerel will have well defined white barring. He also has significant comb/wattle growth.

@danieljames2k16, your multicolored bird is a cockerel and the white (Brahma?) is a pullet. For future reference, please post queries on your own thread in this forum, as it can be confusing responding to multiple people on the same thread.

Does anyone know the typical time that the hackle and saddle feathers come in?  Also which comes in first usually?

8-14 weeks depending on breed. Saddle and hackle feathers usually develop at the same time, but I would put a lot more trust into the saddle feathers than the hackle feathers; as male and female hackles can look very similar.
