I went out the other day and my young (1 year old) grey rooster was dead in the coop. No signs of foul play (no pun intended). No signs prior that anything was wrong.

He was going with some older hens and some young project birds this spring. Old man will have to do for now.

I guess I will be looking for a grey replacement for hime. Japanese are hard to come by here. Maybe I can find one in Columbus, OH at the show.

I still have his sire, but he is getting up there in years 4 or 5 years at least.
 
I started a thread: first response said "She appears to be a Black-Tailed Buff Japanese Bantam. That breed is known for having short legs, and upright tails." I finally found this forum. . .

Almond's her name, ( Hope it's a she ) she has SHORT legs otherwise regular Banty size.
