lathargic skinny chicken

No he didn't say anything about that, would that show up in her poo? He did a fecal float test

I'm not an expert on blackhead or trichmoniasis, but I think that cecal worms are what causes it. Valbazen will treat them. Blackhead is fairly rare in chickens, but common in turkeys.

Blackhead is histomoniasis, the cecal worm is the carrier. No worms involved with trichomoniasis. Treatments for both protozoas are the same; metronidazole/flagyl.

Blackhead (histomoniasis) and trichmoniasis (canker or frounce) are two different diseases, but both can be treated with metronidazole, dimetridazole or ronidazole. When treating for blackhead, one must *also* treat for the cecal worm with something like Safeguard or Valbazen.

To treat cecal worms you would use one of these:
  • Valbazen (11.36% albendazole) dose is 0.08ml per pound and repeat in 10 days
  • Safeguard (10% fenbendazole) dose is 0.23ml per pound and repeat in 10 days

Duh, I really messed up on that one, LOL. I got my iasis's confused. I'm sure glad Dawg and Casportpony corrected my wrong post. Thanks, you two.
