So, I take it these girls take a while like most EE's to start laying?

Hi I'm new here and to lavender orps. I believe mine is about 22 weeks old, what do you all think? Also pullet or cockerel? I've heard mostly pullet lately.

22 weeks? Definitely pullet. Comb would be much larger if it were a cockerel. IMO

That's what I estimate from age. The lady seemed to guess when I got her. Does she/he look about that old? I thought cockerel for the longest time because the comb came in quickly, but it's not growing quickly.

Actually, the last pic shows the tail feathers better, and they look male, so I think I have changed my mind. And I see a few pointy hackle feathers in that last pic too. So it could be a younger male.... Now I'm thinking 16-18 week old cockerel..

I received an order of chicks on August 25th, so they're going to be 12 weeks old on Monday. I ordered 5 female chicks (one passed away at 7 weeks old from an unknown cause that started when she arrived ). My lavender orpington has had me concerned about gender, and I figured it can't hurt to get more opinions. She has a fairly small comb that is slightly pink but can occasionally act very much like a cockerel. I've figured that it could maybe be due to the fact the she is just dominant. Let me know what you all think! Thanks!
