Hello all, I just read through most of this thread and am very excited to have my first Lavender Orpington chicks due to hatch in 2 weeks! By chance I found 6 eggs locally to put under a broody hen so hopefully all goes well........Aren't lavenders the most beautiful??!?!

I need a little help from the experts. What is the going rate for a year old laying hen and a Rooster of the same age?? I don't want to get ripped off!! Thanks. Both Lavender

I bought my chicks for $10 each, I always thought even if one was a rooster I could get my money back. If I was to sell my laying hen, which I would not, but I guess I would ask $25 for her, just because she is a LO.

Secret Hills Ranch were recently selling adult birds for $50 each. I think it depends a lot on the quality of the bird. Regular sexlinks are currently selling for $25 at my local feed store.
