I'm not sure how to find out about laws in a particular area but I'm going to tag someone who is usually helpful and see what they say.

Robin, I'd start with Chico's animal control department and public health department with your questions (presumably about poultry/animal keeping?) Might also contact independent feed stores around Chico who supply the local community. Best have a list of questions prepared that address your particular needs/concerns.

Hope it works out for you! Interesting area, university town plus rural aspects. A family member went to college there and really enjoyed the place. Also find out what regulations apply outside Chico city limits; some areas (like mine) have different rules & regs in the unincorporated county areas beyond the cities.
