my wife's turken chick was pecked to death by her other chicks in their coop the other night. I was wondering, is it common for others to peck at the naked skin? By the time she found it, the turken was bleeding bad and had exposed skull.

It isn't common,well in my case. My turkens actually almost pecked a full feathered chicken to death. Maybe the turken got a scratch on its neck? Happens to mine,when they get scratches,the other ones see the blood and a chain reaction happens. I put blu-kote on it (did I spell it right?) and they didn't mess with it because of the fowl taste. Or maybe,like most chickens it was driven by pecking order and the turken was on the bottom..and when it got blood..boom. Or maybe they got it cornered and they picked on it. I'm not sure..

I went to the chicken swap yesterday! They had showgirls!!!!!

I was about to faint when my mom told me I couldn't get them
