There are other Very Capable vets at these offices. I've just had the most experience with Dr. Tim with my rabbits and chickens. He is wonderful with the animals and extremely knowledgeable. If you read the Website, you can read up on what their specialties are.

Dr. Ken (a husband and wife own the practice, so there are two Dr. Welles) is a board certified avian vet and has worked with just about any species of bird you can imagine (finches, parrots, chickens, ducks, peafowl, emu, pelicans, hawks, bald eagles, cranes, toucans, and vultures just to name a few that have stood out for me over the years). He is a specialist, and you can expect to pay a specialist price ($45 for an exam, any lab work, x-rays, treatments, or medication would be additional) but he knows his stuff and is willing to work with whatever you are comfortable doing. He understands very well that for most people chickens are somewhere between a pet and livestock and that most people aren't willing to do as much to work up/treat a chicken as a pet parrot (although if you are willing to do it, he is willing and even enthusiastic to do it for you).

Dr. Sandra Murrell also sees exotics, although she is more comfortable with small mammals than birds so it is unlikely that she would see your chicken or duck unless Dr. Ken was out of town and it was an emergency. And all of the staff love seeing the chickens or ducks! Trust me, I'm one of them

I have a personal recommendation for a chicken vet in San Antonio, TX. I have used her several times and she is very knowledgeable about chickens and birds of all kinds. She successfully performed a very intensive surgery on my chicken after a dog attack. She really works with you and teaches you about treating your chickens at home.
