LOCKDOWN HUMIDITY HELP

Okay new question, since the 3 hatched, I have 3 pipped, and the bator STINKS. There’s two eggs I can’t see if they’re pipped or not. I’m afraid to open the bator and ruin anything but I’m afraid of the bad ones exploding on the chicks (I candled day 18 and everyone was alive) is it just the shells with left over goop from hatching earlier?

yeah the left over shells stink. Idk how well your style of incu would deal with the lid being lifted. I have a different kind and take the chicks and empty shells out as they hatch.

I have the NR360. first don't trust the reading. The incubator is AMAZING! but the humidity and temp gauge can be off. You can calibrate the hygrometer that you have in there to be sure that is right (read threads on here on how to do that with the salt test) then go by that one if you hatch again. Also I incubate at 45% and hatch around 60-65% your temp will drop when you up your humidity and it will freak you out but that is normal and ok.

If the other eggs haven't pipped you can open the top and take out chicks and egg shells that is fine. If they have pipped then wait till one has JUST hatched and is wet. At this time the humidity will spike from the wet chick and it will climb back up almost instantly after you remove any dry chicks and egg shells so you don't have to worry about it. But if you are quick it is fine and the chicks won't be shrink wrapped. I learned from hatching last year that my broody got up off the nest (a few of them) after eggs had pipped and they were fine. As long as it isn't an extended time the ones hatching will be fine.

Congrats on your hatches and good luck with the others!!!!!!

ahhhh! So I had 7 hatch total, one never hatched and I let it sit until day 23 and still hadn’t pipped. I did have to help one hatch as she got stuck after she had zipped for 12+hours I rewetted the membrane and she popped right out!!! She’s healthy, and all are doing well! Thanks for your help everyone
