I have 6 week old beautifully feathered Marans cockerels from a breeder for whom I am hoping to find good homes. They should be great breeding/show stock. I am in the MA/CT/RI area. Thanks for considering!

Two cockerals, a BCM or mix and an olive/easter egger(looks to have a pea comb and puffy cheeks). My guess

Pick him/her up and look closely on the back by the tail for long skinny feathers (saddle feathers). That would tell you for sure it is a male.

I got 8 splash marans and 6 were females and two males! What do you think was a good price to pay?

Sorry to hijack this thread for my problem!
A few months ago I saw on a Marans site a picture, where the colour was removed at one half (vertical/right side) to explain,
that the majority of the protoporphyrin in Marans eggs can be found in the cuticle layer.
This relation contradicts to other breeds with paler shell colour and to the findings of this study, which is based on such breeds with paler shell colour.

I just wanted to send Mrs. Roberts an Email to suggest to make a study about french Marans and english Welsummer.
And then I had to realize, that I couldn't find the PDF (normally I safe homepages like this) with this picture, which I'd like to send as an attachment.
Is here anyone, who is accidentially aware of, where I can find the above mentioned picture? You would make me very happy!
