Michigan Hatchers! What'cha got cookin?

nice! you can load max of 26?
Yup! Instructions show 27, but some of mine were long and skinny.
It was kinda crowded in there when they started hatching,
being all end to end like that,
but I ...erm.... 'managed' things a bit to make room when needed.

....and Look at *Dat*!!
I changed a bin full of chicks,
into a bin full of pork products!
.....and I got to bottle feed and hold baby lambs.
I love my local farmer!!

Where are you in MI?
Did you buy hatching eggs or already have the BCM's?

They are hard to hatch in that most times can't see in there when candling,
Drives me nuts!

I have heard that about BCMs. we have had terrible luck hatching. the two hens we have we bought juat before POL. On e of our BCM hens brooded our recent hatch. I would love to try and breed some but afraid how difficult it is to hatch :hmm

Yeah they tend to be harder to candle. Especially if they are on the darker end. I am looking to get some more from some that has sevens on the scale...long story short I am rebuilding my flock after a neighbor dog destroyed my last flock...looking at BCM and Arkansas Blues.... supposed to be getting some of those eggs to put in to start with those!

Or ten...I guess if I count the first day she set on the eggs as 1, then today is 10..
It's not day 1 until they've been set for 24 hours......that always screws me up.
....and it's not that important as 21 days is a just a target,
that can be missed by a day or two either way.
