Our mosquitos are almost as big as Mayflys here but this makes me think twice. I can't find anything specific to grazing but it does specify only to be used for ornamentals and not be used on anything that produces seed or" harvestable raw agricultural commondity" (does that mean hay?) for the year it will be harvested and later eaten dry????

I guess I'm with ekemily after reading everything on it - I'll take the mean ole' bugs too! My animal babies come first when it comes to those kind of decisions, but it was something of a cool idea to look in to!

I planted Lemon grass and citronella grass outside my coop and the mossys stay away pretty well from that. Plus it smell like pledge

I think after reading all the warnings I would not be eating the eggs laid after the chickens eat the treated grass/bugs. Just doesn't sound safe. Plus doesn't look like they did long term testing on this stuff yet.

This being copied from a link listed below:

EPA concludes that there is a reasonable certainty that no harm will result to the general population, and to infants and children from aggregate exposure to bifenthrin residues

Pesticides containing bifenthrin have been withdrawn from use in the European Union.[4]

A reasonable certainty is just not good enough guarantee for me to try it out and let me tell ya, those mosquitoes LOVE me and I have at any given time at least 10 bites on my arm and I am miserable!

Well it was a good idea anyway. Thanks for sharing Kletara! We need more people do what you do : find something and share it with all of us. You have lovely girls and pretty hens. Nice picture. Glad they can all enjoy it mosquito free. If they would guarentee it for me to use where the gress was eaten, then I would do it. They sashay around it all ways to sunday but never come straight out and tell you yea or nay. Mostly I think it's ney.

I think I will give it go.. My chickens do not free range,,,,no ponds ,livestock or bees in the area. I'm going to look at the price before I decide,,if expensive I will pass.

I can't walk outside between the hours of 6 and 9 PM around my house. I might as well be ringing a dinner bell. I've looked into pest control measures before, but I'm really interested in this new technique scientists are using to infect mosquitoes with this natural bacteria that sickens the parasites and kills their drive to feed.

I live in michigan too! haha. my mom saw some where on tv that michigan has the highest ammount of mosquitoes AND flies in the past 20 years
