Muscovy hatching 10 days early

This was the only egg to develop out of the 4, so I only got a mallard if that is what this is. I ordered muscovy eggs because I needed quiet ducks so my neighbors won't complain,

Oh sorry the others didn't develop, your in South Jersey, maybe post on that thread and you'll be able to find someone interested if it doesn't work out for you keeping it. It would be alot happier if it had it's own kind too.

The seller of the eggs responded and said they might have gotten the eggs mixed up since their daughter collects the eggs for the mallards and muscovies in the same basket. They said to wait and see if it is a chocolate pied muscovy or mallard.

After looking at the pictures of the seller's mallard ducklings, I'm pretty sure it's a mallard. It has the 2 dark lines by the eyes just like the ones on their website. http://gbpoultry.weebly.com/mallard-ducks.html

I sent a message to the seller that I didn't pay for mallard eggs and I want muscovy eggs. DD will not find another home for Niblet and it has imprinted on us so I guess I'm a mallard's mama now.

It will grow on you.

I acquired my mallards "on accident" too. I thought I was getting Rouens. But I have grown to love my mallards more than any other breed. As far as noise, I have one that is loud and one that never quacks at all. So it's 50/50.
