I ordered eight chicks from MyPetChicken, but got nine! I ordered two each of Welsummers, Golden-Laced Wyandottes, Buckeyes, and Silver Spangled Hamburgs.
I think the extra mystery chick (who we're calling Duck) isn't any of those breeds. I wonder if she's a Sicilian Buttercup? I know that's a rare breed, so not too likely. I'd love others' input!
Here she is at one day old. In the picture with all the chicks, she's one of the middle three (with the two Buckeyes). A Hamburg is just above her. I think her coloring is not quite like the two Welsummers (at 4 o'clock and 10 o'clock in the picture) - her back stripe seems different:
Here she is at 12 days old. She's the one eying the camera. She's always the first to jump up on my hand and loves to climb up my arm. She also likes to fly a lot. In the second picture, you can compare her to the two Welsummers (a blurry Buckeye and a Hamburg are also in the picture).
I can try to get more pictures of her - she's now 17 days old and a little more feathered. But what do you think so far?
