October hatch along?!?!

Have you ever thought abt using that shelf liner in the bottom of your incubator?? I've not had issues with it and it prevents the stuck foot/leg issues...
I do have shelf liner in it but I didn't cover the very edge because the turner doesn't move on it very well. I never even thought about one getting stuck. I'll cover them with medical tape and poke small holes for air flow next time

All my lil fluff balls. They are so cute!! I just love them!

When I candle the last time before lockdown I pull all the eggs out then place my shelf liner and set the eggs back in, rather than leaving it in the entire time (I don't like how the bloom gets rubbed off leaving it in the duration of the incubation)
Oh! That makes sense. I noticed a wide band around a couple eggs and wondered what it was. Learn something new everyday. I'll just cut the shelf paper to fit next time and do it like you said AuntieJessi3.

3 days left yall!!!

I admittedly have too many chickens...should have never done this hatch...

Got over excited and my first harvest and realized we need more for the freezer..

So while I may have "too many" they won't be around but a few months...

They will be housed separately, but within the run. Itll cut down on run space but right now my current chickens have 22sqft per bird in the run...and they free range over an acre...so I don't think it'll be too awful...

Even with winter the option to free range will be available... its hard to say what our winter will look like...ive seen it all...from flying kites in New yrs day to being so dang cold it hurts to go outside 🤣🤣🤣

(This is just me reassuring myself I didn't make a mistake 🤣🤣🤣)

ETA I also didn't expect all 30 eggs to make it to lockdown ..but alas...they did

Y'all will be eating good!

Silkies?
They are adorable!!
Thank you! Yes, they're silkies. I have 4 more silkies that are 8 days older than this bunch, plus 6 that are almost 6 weeks old from my big backyard girls. I just love them all!

Hubby has been putting up a 6' fence around the side yard, about an acre. He hated to see me so upset, after someone let their dogs run loose and they killed my whole flock, so he was going to put concrete footers all the way around to prevent digging under it. We've decided to use hardware cloth around the bottom instead. I love that man!!!
