Official BYC 2021 Summer Fair
Fair Food Contest​

There’s nothing like a fried Oreo or a jumbo plate of loaded nachos to enjoy the fair to the utmost! When the fair comes to town, diets and self control go out the window…one of the best parts of the fair is the food vendors.

Who can whip up their favorite fair food? Fried butter anyone? Funnel cakes, fry bread or giant turkey drumsticks? Let’s see what you can make for the fair!

The Fair Food Contest is a judged photo contest.

Rules:

1. All entries must be submitted as a reply to this thread.
2. Entries must be homemade by the member posting.
3. A photograph of the ingredients plus a photograph of the finished product is required.
4. A member can have up to 3 entries (only one entry per post please).
5. No screenshots, watermarks, date stamps, text, etc. on the picture.
6. High-quality images are recommended.
7. ALL pictures MUST be uploaded to BYC and not hosted on other image sites, personal websites, etc.
8. This is a judged photo contest and the winners will be determined by a panel of judges.
9. Prizes are limited to one per person per contest.
10. All BYC rules apply - Terms of Service (Rules)
11. Entries will be accepted until June 30, 2021 at 11:59 PM Pacific Time.

Prizes​

Place	Prize
First Place	$50 BYC Store Gift Certificate or a 1-year PFM ($60 value) for yourself or a friend.
Second Place	$30 BYC Store Gift Certificate or a 6-month PFM ($35 value) for yourself or a friend.
Third Place	A Fair Foods Cookbook (see pictured below) or a 3-month PFM ($20 value) for yourself or a friend.

BYC Store Gift Certificates and the cookbook are available to winners that reside in the United States. If the winners are outside of the United States they will be awarded the PFM instead.

Alright, I've been thinking about making this for a long time because it combines two of my favorite things, and finally did without any regrets- pretty yummy if I say so myself! I call this the "Sloppy Barbie" AKA "Sloppy BBQ" - you start with prepared Sloppy Joe (browned hamburger meat with sloppy joe sauce) and prepared BBQ Pork (crockpot cooked pulled pork, barbecue sauce) - you put half and half on the bun - one on one side, one on the other. Slap it together and eat with pickles and chips. Sounded like a weird thing you'd find at the fair LOL

Hi all. We decided to try something we’ve never had before as one of our entries here, and dessert was first We made Fried Oreos
Ingredients, plus oil for frying

process, these take just a few minutes

Not from scratch, (probably doesn't count) but easy treats. Heat oil to 375'F, drop 2-4 Twinkies into oil. Cook for 1 minutes turning them every 20 seconds. Pull out of oil with tongs onto paper towels for a couple minutes. Put on plates or platter and sprinkle with powdered sugar. Ta Da!

@casportpony pony inspired me by providing that funnel cake recipe....oh my goodness. We've got belly aches now LOL! I have always wanted to try making it- it was my all time favorite fair food. Wasn't the best at pouring and forming the cakes, but it went down just fine!

(Oil is not in ingredients photo, sorry, it was in the pan heating!)
