Ended Official BYC Contest - Worst Chicken Molt Pictures - Fall/Winter 2014

These pictures are always among my favorites. My flock has already finished their molt and has their bright new feathers in place. I will mark my calendar for next year to get some pictures...here in Arkansas my flock molted in August. Looked like someone gutted a feather bed in the coop.

Definitely poor care but they are molting too. I have been treating them with tlc and they are starting to act like chickens. I aim to give them a very nice life for their last days. Their feathers are coming in nicely.

I bought 20 one year old leghorns for canning about 3 weeks ago. I plan on canning them after we get finished harvesting(we live on a farm). I was a little shocked to see how many were almost naked!
Unfortunately, that's not molting. That's a result of poor care.
I know it's get off topic, but how could you tell from the picture that this was not just a molt?
