Outside area for bedding down?

I have an insulated hen house with a covered run. I was wondering if I should prepare an area outside
In the run for them to bed down in during the day? right now they spend most of the day roosting on an outside roost when it gets cold.
Will they go inside when it gets really cold? I am not heating the hen house. It is draft free and is warmer when all my ladies pile in there at night. Does anyone else have an outside area where there birds can settle in and bed down?

I have outside roosts where they can set on during the day if they so desire. Since i work evenings, I am at work when they settle down for the night. I have a hadnful of hens who will sleep on the outside roosts year round. Last winter they slept outside in bad storms and frigid temps. Their outside pen is just a chain link dog pen with a tarp over the top.
