That should work. Come Spring time, though, they should be mating since it is the time of the year they normally do. Keep me updated. I would like to hear how it goes. Just don't give up. You will have one soon. If you can let mom sit on them, it would be the best way to get them to hatch. From what I have been told, it's difficult to get chicks to hatch by a incubator. Not sure, never tried it yet. I will probably try this Spring just to say I tried it. LOL
