No... ivermectin in any form given orally, topically or by injection will kill lice and mites. @KsKingBee uses the pour on topically, I use horse paste or the injectable orally, all will treat lice and mites.And the pour-on is the ONLY way to treat for lice and mites???

, this hen was treat with ivermectin orally and all lice were gone in 24 hours, but in chicken it can take up to 72 hours for them to die, perhaps because they are a different type of lice?
