So, I got chicks last night, and 5 of them I am certain what they are, but this one is a ....?

I originally went for a starlight green egger (what I was told they had), then was told they didn’t have those, but they had Pearl Stars which lay green. None of the bins were marked. 🤷🏻‍♀️ But then she said she personally had a pearl star that laid blue. At that point, I was so confused & my phone wasn’t cooperating so I could google, so I just said ok & took it. Came home, tried to research, didn’t find any good photos of pearl star babies (except a few on a thread here), but found out they lay neither blue or green 🤣. Then a friend of mine suggested cream legbar (who lays blue), so I thought maybe the girl at TSC was confused on what SHE had.

Anyway, I’ve been driving myself nuts all morning trying to compare and find solid reasoning why it’s one or the other & I can’t.

Does anyone care to venture an educated guess at what this cutie pie is? Thank you!

Either way, her name is Geraldine (according to my 15 yr old). 🤣

I believe she is a Welsummer, but many chicks have that generic "chipmunk" pattern when young. So that's just an educated guess.

Its a little young, but the single comb, yellow shanks, and overall pattern point toward a Welsummer or Brown Leghorn. It could very well be an OE, but I am leaning toward Welsummer at this point.

Update once she is fully feathered or right around 6-8 weeks for a more accurate ID.

Thought I would update...almost 5 weeks old. She’s a pretty thang! And I am a complete newbie, but based on google, I am pretty sure those who said welsummer were right!

Hello! Ooh, she is so pretty! But I don’t think she is a Welsummer…I have 12 Welsummer pullets right around that age, and they don’t really look like her…but of course, I could be wrong! I wish you the best of luck finding out what she is.
