Today I was moving my quail eggs to the hatching tray in my incubator and I heard a chick peeping. Today is day 15, should I have put them in lockdown sooner?
I use 17 days as the incubation period for coturnix, so I would move them the hatcher on the 14th day. My quail tend to hatch at the end of 17 days, so 18 could be more accurate, but it doesn't hurt to move them to the hatcher a day early.

Getting my incubator set up today. It's been so long since I used it that the autoturn cradle gave me a heart attack. (I forgot how slow it was...)

Fingers crossed that I don't need to adjust the thermostat cause lord have mercy do I not know what I'm doing with that. I'm gonna try to find a copy of the manual online just in case. I'm up to 25 eggs that need set iirc so the sooner I get them set the better.

Visited by a huge flock of turkey vultures today. There had to be two dozen of them flying around. Hoping they move on and dont stick around long.

I set 24 eggs in my incubator last night! I have one left over. Here's hoping everything works out okay, technically I've set eggs that were at days 10-12 of sitting out because of shenanigans trying to find a freaking thermometer that works for what I need. Speaking of, it seems to be running a tad on the hot side, but I trust my Brinsea (plus there's no way I can get the screw off of the cover plate for the adjustment... it's completely stripped and rusted). According to my thermometer, the max temp thus far has been 100.9, hasn't gone over that thankfully.

Hello! I am trying to re-home a male and female quail pair. They are experiencing over-mating and I am worried about it getting deadly. Please respond or ask for information! I am in Central PA! Please help respond if you can!
