They never give real dimensions for the coop itself in those ads,
but I'd bet big bucks that it's not big enough for the 8-10 birds that they claim.

But need to see a link to the autodoor that they are trying to install.

Hi friends! Hoping someone else has solved the problem of adding an electronic automated door to their PetMate Superior Construction Coop. It’s I horizontal sliding door and my sister who owns the coop isn’t sure how to incorporate an automatic door. Any help would be most appreciated!

You may just have the room to fit one of these.

It's on the expensive side and you may have to alter the pop hole opening to get it to fit.

I think I would go for the basic model of one of these. You get a locking door with runners plus the electronics.
Again, you may have to make some adjustments to the pop hole width but there should be enough room above the pop door to get a straight pull.

I have the basic Chickenguard and it's worked well so far.
Get one with a timer rather than one that relies on a light sensor.

Easy buy a linear actuator. That what they are for. For simple timed controls use Two SPDT Timers.

Did you ever end up figuring out what to do? In a similar spot now

Hi
I have the same coop and auto door. I took the sliding door and frame off, then added a small shims to screw the nails into since the wall was thin. It’s worked perfectly for over 2 years now. I also put a piece of vinyl flooring and added an Omlet roost bar to the inside.

This is awesome, I currently have an gullotine style door that leaves rooms for drafts on top. Do u have a link to this exact one?

Hi

The automatic door is from Omlet. It’s a bit pricey but worth every penny. The customer service is vey good.

You could also get the Run Chicken auto door. It’s cheaper and they also have good customer service.
I moved my Omlet auto door to my bigger coop and put the Run Chicken door on my Per Mate Coop - kept it as a backup coop to house new hens or a sick hen. I had to add a thin piece of particle board since the Omlet opening was bigger. It’s been working fine the past few months.

You can’t go wrong with either door.

This is awesome! How hard was it to take off the old rails and door? Would love to see some more pictures of your setup as I have the same coop for my chickens that we just got. Did you do anything else to seal it up for winter?
