I have runner ducks. I have found that some dads do OK with little ones and some are aggressive. If they're a couple of weeks old you can try a supervised visit and see. Four of my five drakes are good with the babies. BUT... I have found that most grown drakes try to "surf" the girls as soon as they get large enough, and before they are old enough. So I put my little ones in my mixed pen until they get nearly full sized, then when the boys begin showing interest I pull them out for about a month until they mature emotionally.

The difference is easy to tell. When a male approaches a "not ready' girl she thinks she is being attacked and panics. When she is older she just thinks he's annoying. As soon as my girls look annoyed rather than panicked, I slowly introduce them - at first one boy and several girls, then I keep adding boys till it's a mixed pen again.
