Is that a splash maran?

The little lady in that particular post is a Mottled Cochin bantam. She's a little darker now that she's matured a bit.

However, the hen in my avatar was a Splash Marans from Meyer Hatchery. I miss that girl with all my heart.

Oh wow,I just bought some from the same hatchery about 8 weeks ago. I’m realy excited and curious to see how they turn out

Only half of the ones I got look like they have splashes the other look blue/lavender colored

Hmm, were they sold as Splash, or as Blue? Most hatcheries, if it's sold as 'Blue', that means it can be Blue, Black, or Splash.

Hmm, were they sold as Splash, or as Blue? Most hatcheries, if it's sold as 'Blue', that means it can be Blue, Black, or Splash.
You can see some of the difference there, they were sold as splash, either way I’m alright with it.

Ooooh, look at them!! I do see what you're saying about some of them, they look like Blues. However, that said, I've heard that Splash can be quite dark sometimes, so maybe they're dark Splash? My Ameraucana, Izzy, was either a very light Blue or a dark Splash, at least from what I gathered from some posts on the Ameraucana thread. Never got the chance to test cross her to find out for sure. Notice how she had some black flecking, though? She also looked more like a Splash than a Blue as a baby, which is why I was so surprised at how she feathered in.

Oh she’s pretty! I’m excited to see them turn out. I’m waiting to see if they are all hens or not, I will have to have a rooster as well.

Well, it was a slightly warmer day today, warm enough that the snow was just a little bit melty and the hens were getting antsy from being cooped up. I figured I'd give them a chance to stretch their wings if they wanted to. The answer was a fairly resounding, "NO WAY!" They got this far and no further:

Perdita decided to take a bit of a stroll, however, and so while I was waiting for her to finish her walk, I, err got a little artistic with the snow.

We're due for ~4-6 inches of snow tomorrow, if I remember correctly? Anyway, the girls are just going to have to get used to being cooped up a little while longer.
