Just got our first egg!

I started adding oyster shells as a free feeding/supplemental option on Monday, and today we had our first egg! I'm guessing it could all just be coincidence, but we're excited nonetheless.

This isn't my first egg (and I didn't know this thread existed until now) but I almost have sympathy for my poor Austrolorpe that laid this.

Just to give you a perspective...

First egg last night, so perfect and beautiful! A little tiny, but I'm so proud you'd think I laid it myself!

First three! She laid one, then took a break for two days. Now she's been laying every day for 4 days straight! Still waiting to see if we get another today.

I got my first two today from my 16.5 week old Golden Comet sisters!

I didn't know this thread existed so I posted elsewhere already...I hope people aren't rolling their eyes or worse at me for double posting, but like others have said, I'm just so excited as though they were my actual daughters giving birth today!

I don't know how I'll ever bring myself to actually eat any of their eggs with this attitude! Haha

Well this morning when I went to get the eggs I disturbed on of our EEs trying to lay and then this afternoon got our first egg from her (brown on in the back is from on of our other hens)

Got our first egg last week none since though. We cried when we found it

They are coming to the nest boxes and kicking the fake ones out though...normal?
