We have 7 Muscovy eggs we are trying to incubate ourselves. They were somewhat dirty with mud and muck but we carefully and lovingly removed all we could using only a dry paper towel and a bit of steel wool on one spot of one egg. We don't know if that egg is one that is developing though. There was some staining left on the egg surfaces. From mud and duck poop. I am worried about misting them now it has reached day 10. Will the eggs not being "clean" cause microbial problems for them as the shell absorbs some of the water over the next few weeks? It seems like we'll be applying a lot of water to their surface over the next 25 days. I imagine a mother duck isn't exactly sanitized when she returns to her nest but.. we still want to do what's best. Also, you mist at the end of the cooling cycle for the first week of cooling and misting then change to the beginning after that until hatching? Any and all help about misting and cooling Muscovies will be appreciated! Thank you in advance!
