Looking for direction to great resources around building breeding groups based on feather colors …

I’ve read/watched all about size (for meat) and disposition (out with the bullies) and I get that the celadon are recessive, etc.
I’ve seen the “plumage genetics” page on southwest gamebirds but it doesn’t help me understand who would be best to pair up!

I am a newbie! I have hatched coturnix twice now (6 and 3 weeks old respectively).
Collectively I have 28 brown and 9 non-brown.
🤣

Right now they are happy in their two “hatching groups” but I am struggling to find resources to study as I try to prepare to separate them into breeding groups at around 10 weeks.
(Note: I tried a few days ago and saw my first real violence - I know that younger age combining works for some but I aborted!!!)

So I am looking for some material to study in the next 4ish weeks before I try to separate birds and decide who to cull, etc.
Would really appreciate any good advice or resources?

For fun, I am attaching pics of my 9 "non-brown" birds in case you are interested in helping me ID plumage (I think I know SOME of them) or confirm which are feather sexable vs vent sexing required - - - or commenting on what you would personally pair up based on preference/experience.
LETTER labeled pics are 3 weeks old.
NUMBERED pics are 6 weeks old.

@TudyBOT can you advise?

Just FYI, but TudyBot was an April Fool's joke.

While AIs are getting pretty darn good, their advice is taken and compiled from a basic internet search and isn't always to be trusted. They are fun to play with, though.
Not sure about the whole TudyBot thing …

But as a “quail geek,” can you help me with any quail guidance?

There are a couple of threads in the quail Sticky about colour genetics.

As for the colours, there are a couple colours that you want to be careful about breeding. As a general rule, you want to avoid breeding Italian to Italian or breeding silver to silver. Those combinations have a lethal combination that leads to lower hatch rates and health issues in the young.

The fee gene removes the red, so you end up with black and white. If you breed a white with any solid colour you are likely to end up with pieds. Tuxedoes and white wings are pieds with white in specific places.

I'm not as good with genetics as I am with general care and trouble shooting, but I hope that helps some.

Yes!

That helps.
I think, for now, we will not worry about breeding for specific feather color since it seems a bit complicated …

Luckily I only seem to have ended up with one Italian (a roo) and I don’t think any silver so I should be safe there …

I have an assortment of feather colors … 32 total that are fully feathered (8 and 5 weeks old) I’ll have to dispatch some roos soon bc 16:16 roos and hens but they are in 3 hutches and I want to combine all hens and keep 4 favorite roos (and probably a couple backups 😜) … and then 25 celedon chicks … - I’ll keep them separate for now but eventually I’d like to play around with egg color.
