Rooster not crowing.

I have 2 black australorps, Hen and Rooster. But the rooster doesn't crow, and doesn't mate. Not even serenades them

Don't let the silkie do that to you, when it happens walk away. He's try to dominate you. That's the start of aggressive behavior.

The first picture is a young rooster. That breed is known to be a calm breed. Every chickens are individuals and don't necessarily have hormonal instinct, they need others in the flock to show them.

Generally he should behave like a rooster at 7 months but each birds vary, based on how many are in a flock.

I have 25. And 1 young silkie rooster, but he serenades me.

Honestly a silkie is not a very formidable opponent. If he ever gets close just give him a good kick, he learn eventualy.

The first chicken is a young cockerel and the second is differently hen - I'm saying that possibly he is just not ready to crow - too young. Give him time and he will probably start crowing. Just be listening!!
