Hello all. I have a Yellow Birds of Paradise tree outside my house that would be perfect for my parrots it looks like the kind you buy. It has tons of horizontal perched all across it. I want to cut it down and make it a tree stand. My problem is I can't find if Yellow Bird of Paradise tree is safe for birds. Hummingbirds are also flying around the tree and they eat the nectar from the flowers the tree produces. I was just wondering if anyone knows if this tree is safe for parrots. Thanks

The leaves of the Bird of Paradise plant are highly toxic to birds and most mammals. The wood is considered a tad less toxic, however even a small amount ingested can cause illness. I would find some other wood to use for your parrots.
