September 2023 Hatch-A-Long

One of my 6 Marans has pipped, the wrong end but from experience most make it out.

Woke up this morning to more bubbas and a little pharaoh maybe? Seems way darker than the other colored quail from the last batch. Actually makes me happy that there's one in there. I'll probably aim to get them out thursday afternoon and do a final count then.

I have two Marans, a white and a wheaten. Neither have any leg feathers though
Both pipped wrong ends and made it out super easy one after the other so that's good. 4 more eggs

I'm gonna have to drop for a bit. I stupidly left the sack of gamebird starter against the chest of draws where the incubator was. Needless to say, dogs are staying outside tonight and I'll be cleaning the incubator...but it's going to get a new location up high.

Your little nuggets are adorable! Are you planning on going again?

I'm getting a new incubator in 2 weeks that incubates upright so I'll try posted eggs again (from a different source). I have my own Marans but the cockerel is only just 6 months so been trying to get a few more ladies while waiting kn him to mature and start doing his "duties". Would have been cheaper and easier to source some chicks/pullets but I love hatching

These will be moved to October but decided I'd still show them here, here's tonights candling! I have a bunch of different dates. .
09/15: 8 eggs., lots of movement .

09/17: 3 eggs.

09/23: 2 eggs.

09/25: 2 eggs.

09/26: 1 egg.

Last candle, 09:27.

Then I just added 5 more eggs today.

This time around, I'm not turning the eggs regularly, although they do get turned when i candle them. Dry incubation also, but I will add some water on lockdown dates.

Best of luck with your hatch! Just out of curiosity, why are you not turning? Is it because they are shipped eggs?
