[Chickens of the century]

We are moving to Silverlake KS in a week!

We got Walnut trees, hazelnut trees, goji berry, elderberry, peach tress, cherry trees, plum trees. pine trees, apple trees, blueberry bushes, blackberries and pear trees. We do have several New Zealand rabbits and 21 chickens. We are going to add 3 more New Zealand rabbits and we will get another 16 day old chicks (Columbian Wyondotte, Easter Egger and Blue Andalusian).
Currently have 12 baby rabbits growing from 3 litters and expect another 3 litters by the end of the month.

Forgot to mention we have a little green house, raised garden beds and in-ground garden. I also tan the rabbits hide with the brain method.

We loaded our pig into the trailer last night...but not before....he ran all over the yard, tree line, farmers field next door...and squealed for high heaven for all (literally no on out here) to hear. We spent way too much time trying to load him and had to call the neighbor in for help.

The processor will not take him if he's already dead so that was not an option.


However....after finally getting him loaded I came inside to see my eggs in the incubator starting to pip!!!


I spent yesterday setting up the new chicks outdoor brooder. I need to get their coop (box) in there with their heat, and add food and water...
I also made a quick easy run for the 8 black sex links I picked up at Rural King the other day. They've been in a look don't touch set up since Friday with my first flock from last yr.

The goats got harnesses on and we are learning to walk on a lead....

The hope is to tie them out while we are home to allow for more browsing opportunities.

We have a nice big pecan tree that puts off good every other year, and we found an off shoot just last year...

We also have walnut trees and mulberry trees and black berry bushes.


We are planning on planting some fruit trees and bushes hopefully next yr...(if not this yr if time allows...)

Live weight for our pig was 365# ....
Ummmmm oops.
We were gonna butcher him in april, but pushed it back a month sometime in January bc he was looking kinda tiny....and we'll he literally blew up!!!
