Hey Nice fowl, what do you figure he weighs? I think I recocnize your pens from another aution site. I have been tempted on some but wonder how that tin will cook my fowl down here in the heat and humidity?

He weighs 9lbs. I havent had any ads on any auction sites, so I am doubting you saw my pens on one. I am in oklahoma, and it was 108 last week and they seem to be handling it ok. Just make sure they have plenty of water. I wouldnt use metal topped pens myself if they werent in the shade. I have them placed so they are shaded 90% of the time.

Ok nice fowl, I thought the pen looked like ones I have seen on the oakridge site. I do believe the fellow is out of Oklahoma, but wire and sheet metal could all look the same. I am still figuring what will work best for me, as far as containing stags and extra cocks.

I bought that pen and 3 others like it from an oklahoma guy that raises american games. He may advertise on oakridge. I know he has a lot of birds....

I have a question for you guys that have been raising games for a long time- I know a lot of people only keep the game hens in individual pens or with only a couple of hens . I sometimes have to house several in one large pen due to space etc. Of course you know when you introduce a new one what happens- Anyway My question is-- Have any of you ever used the no pick peeper things to keep them from scrapping so much?

Need some advice. I got a sweater cock about 5 weeks ago. I got two sweater hens this past Sunday. I wanted to give the two hens a couple days to adjust to new home. The two hens or in seperate brood pens. The cock also seperate. I am so ready to start getting fertile eggs. I got home yesterday and one layed an egg, woke up thismornin and the other layed an egg. Should I go ahead and just start breeding. Also if I put him with one hen one day and the other hen the next does anyone know how long they will lay fertile eggs?

Quote:
Once rooster covers hen you can expect fertile eggs starting 3 days after with good fertility lasting possibly 10 days. Thereafter egg fertility begins to drop although at least some fertile through 28 days. When rotating cock over multiple hens penned separately, I like to have her covered every three days to keep egg fertility maximal.

Quote:
The average duration of fertility is about ten days (depends on the breed ex: single-comb breeds remain fertile longer than rose-comb breeds). To be reasonably certain eggs are fertilized by the new mating, wait at least two weeks before collecting them for hatching.
