Silkie thread!

@Hinotori -- as usual your pics & Silkies are gorgeous but then you know how partial I am to Partridge -- LOVE your boy's Moorhead-look!

My Black chick seems to be skittish like my adult Blue/Gold Partridge girl.

Both have full fluff facial fuzz so I'm hoping to trim around eyes will help to make chick less nervous but don't put any hope in it. I just don't want the Black chick to get all the others to pick up the pecking habit. I may isolate the Black for a few days. She's a nervous girl -- not calm like the two other chicks. We handle her more now to get used to being held. We did that with our Gold Partridge adult when she was a chick and it helped somewhat. Guess it's like my Mom said -- the way they behave is already established before they even hatch.

The two blue partridge pullets from this hatch.

So interesting how one girl is blue/gold while one is Moorhead. I just love 1st year pullets to watch how they develop their patterns. The turquoise ears are so amazing. Sometimes makes me wonder if this breed is even considered a chicken or a species all their own?! Oh, I know they're classified as chickens cuz they can interbreed with other chickens but it does make one wonder. I mean, donkeys and horses can cross-breed but then the resulting mule offspring are sterile and can't reproduce. I classify Silkies so special that they shouldn't be mingled with other breeds -- but then that's JMHO :)

They are aliens. Landed on little space ships and failed to take over.

Indoor Silkie chicks getting looked over by the outside adult hens (1 Dominique and 2 Silkie hens).

Curiosity from both sides of the door begins.

Still some curiosity on both sides but one hen starts to wander off.

Boredom sets in and both sides start to lose interest in each other

Chicks are no longer interested in the big girls and head for a jar of millet seed

Millet seed is much more interesting to chicks than the outdoor birds!

So here the 4 to month old silkie & Showgirls that I acquired a week ago. What color would you say Skeeter is? The other showgirl? What colors do you think I will get from these combos? I believe Skeeter is a cockerel.. I believe the rest are pullets.
