I think you're right about the egg color and her being a mix. Now that they're getting older, she's definitely not acting like the three SLW girls.

We’re not planning to. It has been a fun and informative process. We are going to give everyone another month and then probably sharpen our knives. We don’t have room for a collection of mutts and they should be a good age for freezer camp. Nothing is written is stone and we will see how things go. We will probably keep one rooster from the set as insurance. I don’t think it will be a hybrid because everything I’ve read suggests I should stick to a single breed. It’s kind of crazy when I looked at the genetics potential at kippenjungle.nl and realized the possibly outcomes are extremely varied from him. It makes me realize how easy it would be to go off the deep end! Breeding him back to a SLW could produce white, black, silver, gold…laced, partially laced, solid… geeze!!

14 weeks old now! Omelette (aka June bug) lucked out and won an all expenses trip to Florida to be a pampered pet. Here’s a pic of the rest of the gang. The red leakage from the Golden comet and Golden laced Wyandotte is definitely apparent on a few of the birds as well as a left leaning tail gene on a few. Lacing is getting nicer on the Wyandottes and we have ghost lacing on the white birds (barely visible). The mixes were definitely the first ones to crow and the SLW are just beginning to catch up. We have a fun chorus in the morning! Everyone is getting along fine, which surprised me a little with 10+ roosters. I’d say the roosters weigh about 2-3 lbs.
