Yes! That is exactly why I like them. Purely egg laying machines! I've thought about raising up some hens and crossing them with different roos to see what the egg colors would be since white is easily "washed out." True, Marans should give good cream color. I was thinking of an Amer. Roo for mine

Yes, I had thought about using my extra Ameraucana roo on the Leghorns, too. I am not sure which way I am going yet since I want to make more Olive Eggers. I will be do it all next year, if possible.

What a wonderful photo of the baby!

All we ever saw of my girl was feet! Yours is ready to frame and put on the wall. What a beautiful miracle.

You are one of the reasons I am getting some! You have always enjoyed those "Legern" crosses and bragged on them so I figured I could certainly try it. I enjoyed the Legern girls I saw at a friends house years ago. Those floppy combs and sleek bodies are comical. i just hate they are flighty but I guess I will deal with it.

Quincy. My first chick I ever hatched. He was an egg from phoneman.

He's quite vicious...

At least one rooster out of the four speckled sussex. There is no denying your gender bud with that big ole comb!
