CHINESE GOOSE WANTED - W. TN

We just moved to McNairy County West Tennessee, and are looking for a female Chinese Goose (preferably not white) for the "bonus goose" that was left by previous owners, who looks like an older male to me.

I don't mind if she is older too since she would just be there for companionship (and to keep him from screaming at every Canadian that flies by) and to enjoy the very large pond on our property.

I have years of poultry keeping experience, but have not kept this breed of geese before, but the bonus goose is actually a pretty cool if slightly needy addition.

If there is a better place to post this, please let me know.. been too busy to BYC for a long time, so it's all new again -lol.
Couldn't figure out how to delete my iso post, so I am just replying to it -lol.

Found a nice adult Chinese Goose for the bonus gander. They seem to get along, and be obvious male/female, but while she is living the dream down by the pond, but he still spends most of his time "patrolling" up by the house screaming at passing Canadian geese and anything else he thinks is unsanctioned or inappropriate activity -lol.

I have a few extra splash Ameraucana chicks available in Cleveland TN. These are not Easter Eggers. The rooster/hens came from a breeder in North Carolina. I have 8 straight run chicks available. They are 1 week old today.

Good morning, folks! My wife and I just got our first chickens ever yesterday afternoon. We have five. The breeds are a bit different than we thought they were going to be, but that's no big deal. We got them from our friend who is a homesteader a mile down the road from us, so we know the source. I will post pictures of the new girls later. For now, here is a photo of the coop my wife and I built. The run is 18 x 6. We still need to add a couple of things for the ladies, but it's functional. Within four hours, one of them already laid an egg. We put fake plastic eggs in the two nesting boxes for them to see, and one of them went there very quickly to lay an egg. We are excited! We are also going to establish our own little meal worm "farm" for feed.

I am so impressed with how much knowledge there is here in the forum, and I am looking forward to learning much from all of you! My wife and I are total newbs to this, but we're excited to be doing it! Have an eggcellent day!!

Mike

Welcome to the group! Nice setup you got going! Excited to see your babies!
I've been doing this over 2 years now and man is it addictive!
There definitely is a wealth of information and knowledge to gain from here on BYC!

Here are some shots of the girls! We had some drama this morning (it was quite funny). I walked out of the run to go check the nesting box for any eggs, while my wife stayed in the run. She didn't notice the door to the run open behind her, but the girls did, and so out they ran into the yard. We had quite the time herding them back in. LOL
