i have the water soluble formula from the vet that you mix in their drinking water for 7 days.

if i wanted to dose just my sick chicken rather than all of them, does anyone know how much/ratio i would i mix up and how much i should give daily ?

What are your chickens sick with?
what started as a sneezy/cough cold is developing into a fluidy/gurgle. she got it last winter also. she starts to have a little difficulty breathing, not bad but i’m keeping a close eye on her i treated her last year with tetra for respiratory. our temperatures have taken a dive again and she’s just that fragile little girl in the group that gets everything

You use the same mixture for the one chicken. If you place her separate in a dog crate with food and the treated water, she should drink the right dosage. Is the medicine oxytetracycline or tetracycline? Can you show a picture of the label and ingredients? Dosage of oxytetracycline is 5 mg per kg of weight every 12- 24 hours if you want to dose her throughout the day.

it’s tetracycline , my vet just gave me a bulk pkg and printed out .5 of pkg to 5 litres for the directions for 7 days. i’m not going to separate her from her sisters for a week , i would just treat them all together then. the point is i’m just trying to figure out if i can syringe dose treat her on her own

It might be best to call your vet office and ask. Or post the picture of the package where we can see how many mg are in each gram. You could ask the vet as well if there is no label. There are a couple of products available, and here is one of them:

Here is another and you can see the strength is different:

i asking him last year how much i should give her daily if i gave w/syringe rather than free choice and his answer was he didn’t know how much chickens drank a day. i would mix up the batch the same as the instructions he gave me i’m just trying to figure out how much she would normally consume a day.

there is no label so i will phone the vet and ask for more details, thanks for those links i’ll look into them also 👍

I would suggest looking into all these different common respiratory diseases that can affect chickens.

Since Avian Influenza is going around, I recommend reading about it as well. Avian Influenza (AI) - https://drive.google.com/file/d/1jEgHBvYBXysmMGN--bJbzwTXHTg2pxIW/view?usp=drivesdk

Most respiratory diseases of poultry are chronic and incurable, but the symptoms are treatable with antibiotics for when they come up. All birds will remain as lifelong carriers depending on the disease.
