I was out in my front yard this morning tilling and raking when I heard a bunch of birds screeching and yelling like crazy. I looked up and saw what must have been 4 or 5 birds chasing away a hawk. Man, it was a sight to behold! My respect and admiration for mocking birds had already skyrocketed after I saw one chasing my neighbor's cat past my house a week or so ago. Now, I'm thinking we should change the symbol of our nation from eagle to mocking bird.

It's good to know those MBs got my girls back.

We have hawks, crows and mockingbirds, seen daily. Maybe this is why I have never seen a hawk near my chickens.

I feel the same gratitude to the killdeers we have here. They make so much noise my chickies just run for the shelters I put in their run. Which is covered btw but they don't get that.
