I think it is a kid thing. When they get older it will be a different story. I have had some that just love to be held when they are young but after awhile when they're bigger they don't like it as much. I think you have some happy chicks.

They do seem very happy. They might even he a little spoiled...

I've been working on their new home most of the day. Still have a few things to wrap up inside and out, like painting and netting, but I made good progress today. I'll be glad when it's finished...

Wow. That is incredible

. I could never even dream up something that cool, let alone have the skills and patience to build it. That is one amazing setup, can't wait to see it done!

Thanks, waddles. I can't dream these ideas up, either. When I started building my coops, I figured how much space I'd need for X number of birds. I'd measure out the floor area, and go from there. I don't plan anything, because the final product rarely looks anything like what I draw out on paper. It's just easier for me to think about something I want, and the basic stuff I need for a build, then simply let everything evolve from there. I find I'm most creative if I imagine it as I'm building it. My dad was a carpenter, and I started helping him when I was a teenager. I did some contracting/sub-contracting work as a young adult, and some of those skills have stuck with me. Turned out to be helpful when I needed some remodeling/reconstruction work done on the house... and especially once I got into chickens.

I have a few other project ideas that I've posted on the forum, and I'm more than happy to share them. I don't want any credit or praise for any of it... I just hope it can help someone else. Feel free to use any or all of them...

And so it begins... The hardest part of the year for people that raise show birds. Feed bills are high and the chickens are all ugly. June, July and August are always tough. Maybe I should cut back and it would be a bit easier!

Cut back? Wow...

I suppose, if you're serious, I could help lighten your load. I'd be willing to do that just to help you out...

Haha, count me in too, if you're willing to sell some I would be more than happy to have some!

I just raise a lot of birds each year so this time of year it is a chore keeping up with everything. It takes a couple of hours in the morning and a couple of hours in the evening to take care of everything. I will have started birds in the fall to get rid of.

So true, but for me it is a labor of love. I love to watch the chicks grow and as they grow see who is going to fit the bill for next season.

If you are serious about selling any, I will definitely be interested in some pullets and maybe a cockerel.
