The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

Hi everyone! I’ve just bought my first pair of gold laced Orpingtons, they’re still quite young but I think they’re looking good, what do you think?
You can’t really appreciate it but they are absolutely humongous.

They look like they will be the proper type. Too early to tell how well they are laced, etc. I wish I had a male for all the girls I have.

Due to AI, our 4-H kids had a virtual chicken show this year. Here are the birds DS showed in his videos

Sadly we couldn't get a good photo of my fav roo. Big Blue only wanted to jump off the box and getting DS back into a button down shirt for a photo was an even a bigger challenge. Had to go with this:

Thanks. Her name is Chaos - a huge 10lb hen. Pretty but not the usual friendly pet orpington. She hates to be picked up. She moved to a friend's house. I will miss the eye candy - but not her squawks when we dared pet her. Never had an antisocial hen like that before, but perfectly named.

Guess who won Best in Show for large fowl chickens?????
Yup!

Chaos got a blue, class champ for large fowl hen, and grand champion.

Big Blue won blue ribbon and class champion for large fowl cockerels.

Our silkie got a blue, class champ for feather legged bantam hen, and grand champion for bantams.


Also got grand champion for quail and white eggs and the Jr Showmanship award. A very, very big day for him.

Winston and Clementine are our English Blue Orpingtons that we imported last year. I took some photos today of their oldest chicks, The O's (Olympia and Octavia), Hagrid, Rumples, and Bluebell, and thought I would share.

Looking for cute names for a lav orp girl. (I've had a Cuddles, Sweetheart, Precious, & Muppet in the past. Also had Chaos, Calamity, Curious.)

Twinkles is a decent name choice so far.
