The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

I already popped over there. I don't think any of us have Jubilee. I have a lead on some locally that I'd like to get though, large fowl and bantam. :) I'd check out the Orpington groups on Facebook. Once you say you're from Hawaii most of them won't be going into a cardiac arrest that you're looking at a major hatchery. Although, you may find some breeders willing to ship eggs or chicks.

Thanks!
I have been searching hi and low for a breeder who will send here. Still hoping Papa's Poultry decides to take the leap of faith. Waiting to hear back from them. Will likely place a good sized order if it works out! 😊

I just posted a thread asking about the Jubilee english orpingtons from Meyer. Any of you savvy english orp folks have any experience or know someone who has with these birds? Checking out all my options, Meyer does ship to Hawaii. They are asking $36 for a sexed pullet, so for that price, better be the real deal! 😊

I was wondering about these too! I think I assumed they were not the English variety, but would love to know!

Just found Chicken Scratch Poultry! They have many beautiful breeds, including the jubilee and black orpingtons. Also have some nice looking lavender (though not English) and some "bantam" chocolate orps!
They ship to Hawaii!
Will still wait and see about the others, they have more of the birds I want, but this looks very promising!😊

Oh no ... the last thing I need is yet another place to look at birds ... 😳😳😍

So I went ahead and ordered 2 sexed Jubilee orpingtons pullets from Meyer after checking with them that they are indeed the english variety. They do get from a breeder and function as a broker mostly. That's why the price!
They will ship out mid March. Ordered 2 in case one does not make the trip.
Have not heard back from Papa's yet, but if I do, I can always cancel the Meyer order. Did it mostly as a back up. The Jubilee from Chicken Scratch are also gorgeous, and I may order some from them as well, but they are out into May for their chick orders currently and are straight run.
They have the bantam English Orps in chocolate. Stunning! They say they are more mid sized, with hens around 3 lbs and roosters around 5 lbs.
Would it be legit using a "bantam" rooster over large fowl hens, if they are both english type? May get a mid size english orp out of it? Just playing with the possibilities if I can not find any other chocolates. 😊

Kate and Ruby the F1 Blue Silver-laced. You can see a tiny bit of lacing in Kate’s hackles. Now if she’d just start laying again after the move I could get some F2 babies. 😬

Your birds are gorgeous! I have two BBS Eng Orps that my broody hatched (I got fertilized eggs for her from a friend, as I have no rooster). I have posted pictures on another thread, but if you would be willing to take a peek, I would love to show them to you! I have no idea if I have boys/girls, and of course, am feeling impatient. LOL

Sure. This is a great a place to post pics. Try to get some good head shots as well as full body. Don't forget to give the age when the pics were taken. Even if they're too young to sex, we ❤ pics of orps.
